What is Base64?
Base64 is a way of representing binary data (or any text) using only 64 safe ASCII characters. It's everywhere: data URLs in HTML, email attachments, API tokens, JWTs and embedding small images in CSS.
Encoding vs decoding
- Encode turns "Hello" into "SGVsbG8=" — useful for transmitting data through systems that only handle plain text.
- Decode reverses it. If your input isn't valid Base64, the tool tells you instead of producing garbage.
Unlike many online converters, this one handles non-English characters (UTF-8) correctly — encoding "বাংলা" or emoji just works.
